On November 13, the Vice President of China Economic and Magazine, Huan Yan, and a delegation led by Mr. Mehdi Laraki, Chairman of Morocco-China Business Council within the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), held a working meeting in Beijing. The two sides explored cooperation opportunities and implementation pathways regarding a range of topics, including agriculture, new energy, automotive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, infrastructure development, deep processing of agricultural products, and the establishment of a comprehensive cross-border legal cooperation mechanism, and signed a strategic cooperation agreement to expand the space for trade and economic cooperation under the Belt & Road framework.
At the meeting, Vice President Huan Yan extended a warm welcome to Chairman Mehdi Laraki and his delegation. She said that there is broad scope for China – Morocco trade and economic cooperation, and that this meeting aims to jointly explore business models and cooperation mechanisms with the Moroccan side to ensure the sound implementation of projects. She introduced Chinese enterprises ’ practical experience in auto parts, agricultural product processing, intelligent equipment, new energy and AI application, and expressed the hope of building a long – term cooperation channel with the Moroccan side. The attending Chinese entrepreneurs also presented business introductions in areas such as the automotive supply chain and foreign – related legal services, and expressed their strong willingness to promote bilateral trade ‑ economic cooperation.
Chairman Mehdi Laraki stated that diplomatic relations between China and Morocco are solid, with a good foundation of mutual trust, and that CGEM attaches great importance to establishing long – term strategic cooperation relations with Chinese enterprises. He emphasized that the Confederation currently covers nearly 800 leading enterprises, and is willing to provide multiple supports for cooperation – shared resources, policy communication and market access. He elaborated on four major cooperation directions: agriculture, new energy, healthcare and education, and introduced Morocco ’ s advantages in automobile manufacturing and its demand for advanced Chinese technologies. Moroccan entrepreneurs said there are many cooperation opportunities across multiple fields in Morocco – such as feed, seawater desalination, tourism, hotels and agricultural product processing – especially in relation to the 2030 World Cup preparations, when more projects will be opened to Chinese enterprises.
Based on in – depth exchange, the two sides reached important consensus and formally signed the cooperation agreement, providing a stable framework and clear path for follow – up cooperation. Both sides said they will accelerate the implementation of key projects, promote high – quality development of China – Morocco trade – economic relations, and inject new momentum into bilateral cooperation.
